Keyword rank checker: Where you rank for every variation
This free keyword rank checker finds every variation people search for your phrase, from Google's keyword data, the searches ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini run and your own list, then checks where your site ranks in Google's top 30 for each one and which AI Overviews cite you.
Each search is checked in Google's top 30 in the United States, in English. The report runs in this tab a few searches at a time, so keep it open until it finishes.
Every variation checked
Your best rank in Google's top 30 for each search, the page of yours that holds it, and the AI Overview Google showed. The most searched come first.
Your pages Google picked
Each page of yours in Google's top 30 for these searches, how many searches it ranks for, and its best rank.
Who ranks for these searches
The sites in Google's top 10 for the most of these searches, and the sites AI Overviews cite most. Your site is marked when it's there.

How the keyword rank checker works
The keyword rank checker works in three steps, and nothing is checked on Google until you've seen the list.
- Find the variations. Type a phrase and your site. Rank Report pulls the searches that contain the phrase from Google's keyword data, with how often each one is searched a month, and the searches Google lists as related. It also asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the phrase with web search on and keeps the searches they ran. You can add your own list too.
- Pick up to 100. Every AI search and every search from your list is picked for you, then the most searched variations fill the rest. Filter the list, untick what you don't need, or pick the ones a pattern finds.
- Check where you rank. Each search you picked is checked in Google's top 30, with the AI Overview Google showed and the pages it cites. The report shows how many variations you rank for, how many are on page one, and which of your pages Google picked for each.
Check every variation of a phrase with a pattern
A pattern is a regular expression, the same kind Search Console's Custom (regex) filter reads. Rank Report runs it on Google's keyword data itself, so the matches come from every search it holds, not only the most searched ones.
seo.agency
The two words with any one character between them: seo agency, seo-agency, and every longer search that holds one, like local seo agency near me.
seo.*agency
The two words in that order with anything between them, so seo marketing agency counts too.
(best|top) seo (agency|company)
Each word in brackets is one choice: best seo agency, top seo agency, best seo company and top seo company, and the longer searches around them.
seo agenc(y|ies)
Both forms of a word. Keep at least one whole word outside the brackets, here seo, because Google's keyword data looks that word up first.
How to read the rank report
The rank report puts each variation in one row, so you can see which ones you already win and which ones nobody on your site answers yet.
- Your rank. Where your site's best page sits in Google's top 30 for that search. Yellow is page one, blue is 11 to 30, and a dashed box means your site isn't in the top 30.
- Your page. The page Google picked for that search. When you type one page's address, a search where another page of your site ranks says so.
- AI Overview. Whether Google showed an AI Overview for the search, and whether it cites your site. Some AI Overviews load after the rest of the page and come back without their sources, and the report says when that happened.
- Searches a month. Google's estimate for the United States. Google counts close variants, like seo agency and agency seo, as one search, so the report's totals count each group once.
- Who ranks for these searches. The sites that hold Google's top 10 for the most variations, and the sites AI Overviews cite most. Those are the pages to study before you write yours.
Where the keyword variations come from
The keyword variations come from three sources, and the list marks each search with the ones that found it.
Keyword data
Google's keyword data from DataForSEO: the 200 most searched queries that contain your phrase, and the queries Google lists as related to it, each with how often it's searched a month.
AI searches
The searches ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini ran when we asked them your phrase. Fan-Out shows the same searches for any prompt, run by run.
Your list
Searches you paste, one per line: a Search Console export, a client's list, the questions your sales team hears. They're picked first and never filtered out.
The limits
Google in the United States, in English, on desktop, organic results only. Free with a Google sign-in: up to 100 searches in a report and 300 a day. A search checked in the last 24 hours comes back from our copy and doesn't count again.
Keyword rank checker questions
Is this keyword rank checker free?
Yes. Rank Report is free with a Google sign-in. Each account can check up to 300 searches a day, up to 100 in one report. A search anyone checked in the last 24 hours comes back from our copy and doesn't count again.
How many keywords can I check at once?
Up to 100 searches in one report. The list of variations can hold more: every AI search and every search from your list is picked first, then the most searched variations, and you can change the picks before you check.
Where do the keyword variations come from?
From the sources you tick: Google's keyword data from DataForSEO (the searches that contain your phrase, with their searches a month, and the searches Google lists as related), the searches ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini run when they answer your phrase, and your own list.
Can I check every variation of a phrase with a regular expression?
Yes. Type a pattern instead of a phrase. seo.agency finds seo agency and seo-agency inside longer searches, seo.*agency allows any words between the two, and (best|top) seo (agency|company) finds all four pairs. The pattern runs on Google's keyword data itself, so the matches come from every search it holds.
Does it show AI Overviews?
Yes. For each search it shows whether Google showed an AI Overview, which pages the AI Overview cites, and whether one of them is yours. Some AI Overviews load after the rest of the page and come back without their sources, and the report says when that happened.
Which Google results does it check?
Google in the United States, in English, on desktop. Each search is checked in the top 30 organic results, three pages deep. Ads, maps and the local pack don't count as ranks.
Can I check one page instead of my whole site?
Yes. Type the page's address in Your site. The report then shows that page's rank, and marks each search where another page of your site ranks instead.
