AI performance report: Google AI and Bing AI, by page

This free AI performance report puts Google's and Bing's AI reports side by side, page by page. Drop in the exports from Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to see each page's AI Overview and AI Mode impressions next to its Copilot citations.

Google: Search Console's Generative AI features export, the ZIP as it downloads. Bing: the AI Performance exports, in CSV or Excel. Add Search Console's regular Performance export to see AI's share of your impressions.

Free, no sign-up. Your files are read in this browser and never uploaded.

What the AI performance report shows

The AI performance report shows four things from the two exports, page by page and day by day.

Google AI impressions

Google AI impressions count how often Google showed a link to your page in an AI Overview or AI Mode answer.

They come from Search Console's Generative AI features report, which Google announced on June 3, 2026 and opened to every site on August 31. It has no clicks and no queries.

Bing AI citations

Bing AI citations count how often Copilot and Bing's AI answers listed your page as a source.

They come from the AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools, in public preview since February 2026. Microsoft says its numbers are a sample of citation activity.

AI share of impressions

AI share of impressions is the part of your Google Search impressions that came from AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Google counts AI impressions inside Search results too. Add the regular Performance export for the same dates and the report works out the share for each page and for the whole site.

Grounding queries

Grounding queries are the searches Microsoft's AI ran before citing your pages.

Google's report has no queries, so these come from Bing alone. Each one opens in Fan-Out to show what ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini search for it.

How to export the files for the AI performance report

To export the files for the AI performance report, you need one export from Search Console and, if your site is verified there, the AI Performance exports from Bing Webmaster Tools.

Search Console's Generative AI features export

Search Console's Generative AI features export is one ZIP file of small CSV files.

  1. Open Search Console, pick the site, and go to Performance, then Generative AI features. Google's own link to the report is search.google.com/search-console/performance/search-analytics/ai.
  2. Pick the date range, such as the last 3 months.
  3. Choose Export, then Download CSV.
  4. Drop the ZIP here as it is. There's no need to unzip it.

For AI's share of your impressions, also export Performance, then Search results, for the same dates.

Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance exports

Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance exports come one view at a time, in CSV or Excel.

  1. Sign in to Bing Webmaster Tools and open AI Performance for the site. The direct address is bing.com/webmasters/aiperformance.
  2. Set the same date range as your Search Console export.
  3. Export the timeline, the pages list and the grounding queries list.
  4. Drop them here together with the Search Console ZIP.

No verified site in Bing yet? Importing it from Search Console verifies it in a few clicks. Our guide to the Bing AI Performance report walks through the rest.

How to read an AI performance report

To read an AI performance report, know its three quirks before you compare the numbers.

Why Google's pages add up to more than the total

Google's pages add up to more than the total because Search Console counts the total by site and the Pages list by page. One AI answer that links to three of your pages adds 1 to the total and 1 to each of the three pages.

The first real export we tested, from a small site, showed 3 impressions in total and 7 across its pages. Both numbers are right; they count different things.

Impressions vs citations

Impressions vs citations is a comparison of two different units: an impression means Google showed a link to your page in an AI answer, and a citation means Bing's AI listed your page as a source.

So 400 impressions and 40 citations doesn't mean Google rates the page ten times higher. Compare pages within one column, and use the In column to see which pages both engines lean on.

Why the dates may not line up

The dates may not line up because each export covers the range picked in its own tool, and Search Console's dates are Pacific Time. Pick the same range in both, and the report tells you when they still differ.

AI performance report questions

These AI performance report questions come up most: what it costs, what it reads and what it keeps.

Is the AI performance report free?

The AI performance report is free and needs no sign-up. It runs in your browser, so there's no daily limit on how many reports you build.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

Your files aren't uploaded anywhere. The page reads them in your browser, builds the report there, and forgets them when you close or reload the tab. Nothing in them reaches our server, and nothing is stored.

Which files does the AI performance report read?

The AI performance report reads Search Console's Generative AI features export (the ZIP from Download CSV, the CSV files inside it, or the Excel download) and Bing's AI Performance exports in CSV or Excel. It also reads Search Console's regular Performance export, which gives AI's share of your Google impressions.

Does the report include ChatGPT or Perplexity?

The report doesn't include ChatGPT or Perplexity, because neither gives site owners a report like Google's or Microsoft's. Microsoft says Bing's AI Performance report also counts some partner AI experiences, without naming them. For ChatGPT and Claude, our AI Visibility tool tests a page directly.

Why can't I find the Generative AI features report in Search Console?

You can't find the Generative AI features report in Search Console until Google has counted enough AI Overview or AI Mode impressions for your site, and never for a site excluded from Search's generative AI features. Google opened the report to every site on August 31, 2026, so a newer or smaller site may simply have nothing in it yet.

Why is there no query data from Google?

There's no query data from Google because its Generative AI features report splits impressions by page, country, device and date only. Bing's grounding queries are the searches Microsoft's AI ran before citing your pages, and they're in the report when you add Bing's export.

Can I save the AI performance report?

You can save the AI performance report as a CSV of the page table, a CSV of Bing's grounding queries, or a PDF from the Print button. The page keeps nothing itself, so save before you close it.

AI performance report sources

The AI performance report sources are Google's and Microsoft's own pages, which define every number it shows.
