Can I use Google Console for free?
By GEO Search Console Published
You can use Google Console for free: Google Search Console has no paid plan and no trial, and every report is free for every site you verify.
You don't need a Google Ads account or any other Google product, just a Google account. This page is part of our Google Search Console FAQ.
What you get free in Google Search Console
Everything in Google Search Console is free to use: the Performance report with your searches, clicks and positions, the Page indexing report, URL Inspection, sitemaps, links, Core Web Vitals, structured data reports and the alerts.
The Search Console API is free too, and so is the bulk data export, though BigQuery may charge for storage once the data lands there.
Bing Webmaster Tools is free in the same way, and its AI Performance report shows when Microsoft Copilot cites your pages.
The two limits of free Google Search Console
Free Google Search Console has two limits that matter, and both are about how much data you keep:
- Time: Google keeps 16 months of performance data, then older days drop off for good.
- Rows: the interface shows and exports at most 1,000 rows, so a big site sees the top of its query list and nothing more.
The API raises the row limit to 50,000 a day per site per search type. To keep more than 16 months, you need your own copy: our free Search Console data warehouse saves every day on your own hosting.
Free tools that work with Google Search Console
Search Console is the best free SEO tool because its numbers come from Google itself.
Our page on free SEO tools lists the other free tools worth using with it, from Keyword Planner to PageSpeed Insights.
