Can I tell who has googled my name?

By GEO Search Console Published

You can't tell who has googled your name, because Google doesn't share who searched for anything, and no tool can show it.

What you can see is how often a search for your name showed your own site, if you have one. This page is part of our Google Search Console FAQ.

Why nobody can tell who googled a name

Nobody can tell who googled a name because Google keeps searches tied to the searcher's own account and never hands them to anyone else.

Search Console, the only tool where Google shares search data with site owners, reports totals and never people: our page on whether Search Console collects personal data explains how.

Sites that promise to reveal who searched for you can't see Google's searches either.

What you can see when people google your name

When people google your name, you can see the searches that showed your own site.

Connect a site about yourself to Search Console, open the Performance report and filter the queries for your name. Each row shows how many times that search showed your pages and how many people clicked.

Two limits apply. A name searched by only a few dozen people over two to three months is anonymized and won't appear as a row. And Search Console only counts searches where your site showed up, so it can't tell you how often your name was searched in total.

Checking what people see when they google your name

To check what people see when they google your name, search it in a private window.

Then check where your own site ranks with our keyword rank checker, which reads Google's top 30 for your name and its variations.

If a result shows personal information you want removed, Google's own "Results about you" tool lets you ask for some kinds of removal from its search results.
